Aging and creeking, the National Lottery website was no longer fit for purpose. An overhaul was required.
A new front-end of the website was designed and built based on an extremely tight set of requirements. The focuses were online play of the main Lottery games but also account management such as changing password, contact details etc. The final main requirement centered around online gaming / gambling that needed to be integrated from third parties.
Angular JS was used to rebuild the front-end and was created in a modular fashion meaning that individual components could be replaced at a time - for instance just the account management module was launched first working alongside the existing website. This smoothed deployment as it meant we could learn from deployment issues without releasing the entire website and affecting the business.
